Birthday Bash

Right before I had to take off for my trip I rounded out my Birthday weekend with a bash at my place. Originally I thought about going out of town and having something in NYC or Atlantic City but that was getting rather complicated so I opted to stay put and have a party at home.

Katie and Chris got in the night before and were able to help me with all the prep and set up. We chopped and cooked and got everything ready to go. Chris made her delicious gluhwein (hot red wine with fruit and spices). My mom and a friend provided delicious cookies and my lovely friends Karen and Mike thoughtfully sent up a colorful Edible Arrangement of fruit.

My family were the first to arrive and little by little the rest of the gang trickled in filling up my home with laughter and conversation. My parents and godparents in order to give my party a little extra panache surprised me with bright cheerful balloons and a collection of gorgeous modern flower arrangements. Friends brought wine and champagne and we toasted the night away until the late hours.

I spent a lot of time before my birthday thinking about what I really wanted for the big 4-0. In the end I decided the most important thing to me was to be surrounded by friends and family. The entire weekend was filled with exactly that. I am thankful for all the wonderful people who participated in making my birthday filled with love and joy.
