Yesterday Mario and I babysat for a friend who needed a break so that he and his wife could go see a movie. Lucas, our three year old little friend, is really a very easy going little boy. He is easily entertained by cartoons or any of his toys. Today he came with his Cheerios logo adorned race car and a DVD of Thomas the Train.
Once we shooed his parents out the door and assured them he would be fine we popped in the DVD and all watched Thomas and his friends navigate the ever so complex world of the railway system. Lucas is a boy of very few words. He doesn’t say a lot and is very focused when watching his shows. But one phrase he does know very well is “Cinders and Ashes!” which is Thomas’ catch phrase whenever he is surprised, frustrated, excited or exhausted. Lucas would shout it out each time Thomas spoke those words and then giggle.
After Thomas successfully solved the problem of the day we headed out to Qdoba for some lunch. We ordered our food and got Lucas a cheese quesadilla or “pizza” as his mother told us it often goes by and sat down to enjoy. For a little guy he sure has an appetite. He finished off the entire quesadilla without much effort.
Once back at home we put on a few other cartoons and all sat down to relax. Mario and Lucas get along very well as both require midday naps. At some point through one of the cartoons I looked over to find both of them out like a light. I have to say this had to be the easiest babysitting gig ever!
