Trying to find really good Mexican food in Boston isn’t the easiest task. Sure there are lots of fun places to go. One place makes great guacamole, one place makes great margaritas, and another has some cool new fusion concoction that the novelty alone is worth the trip. But when you want simple Mexican food without the twists La Carreta in Nashua, New Hampshire is our favorite.
We got off work last night and took the 40 minute drive up to bask in the glory of the queso fundido dripping from the perfectly salted crispy tortilla chips. We proceeded to devour 2 baskets of chips in about 5 minutes which may be our record to date. Mario had his go to dish of steak tacos and I had a combo plate consisting of 1 soft taco and 1 burrito with rice and beans. Granted it isn’t his mother’s home cooked Mexican food but as an alternative it is a fantastic runner up.
